How is an eyebrow transplant performed?
Evaluation and design
Dr. Alfonso evaluates your eyebrows, your skin type and your facial profile. Together you design the line, respecting the natural proportions of the face.
Extraction
Follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area (usually the back or sides of the scalp) with the FUE technique. Single-hair follicles are chosen to mimic the fine texture of the eyebrow.
Implantation
Each follicle is implanted following the direction, angle and depth of the eyebrow's natural growth. It is the most delicate step and requires millimetric precision.
Recovery
It is an outpatient procedure: you are discharged the same day. There may be mild swelling or redness during the first few days.
How it progresses
- Between the 2nd and 4th week the transplanted hairs fall out: this is normal.
- Permanent growth starts to show between 4 and 6 months.
- The final result is seen at 12 months.
Aftercare
- For the first two weeks, avoid getting the area directly wet.
- Do not apply makeup or cosmetics on the eyebrows.
- Protect the area from the sun.
- You will receive a detailed aftercare protocol and follow-up visits.

Is an eyebrow transplant painful?
It is performed under local anesthesia, so no pain is felt during the procedure. There may be slight discomfort when the anesthetic is applied, lasting only a few seconds.
How long does the procedure take?
Depending on the number of follicles and the size of the area to be treated, it takes approximately 2 to 4 hours.
Is the result permanent?
Yes. The transplanted follicles are your own, so there is no rejection and the result is permanent. The transplanted hair grows normally and can be trimmed or plucked like a natural eyebrow.
Do I have to shave for an eyebrow transplant?
No. We use an unshaven technique that leaves the donor area intact.
