Do you know your degree of hair loss?
Identifying your grade is the first step toward the right treatment. Hair loss is not the same in every case, nor does it progress the same way, which is why we always start with an AI-assisted trichoscopy, which shows the degree of loss and the real condition of your follicles.
- If there are living but weakened follicles: we recommend a Hair Protocol, without surgery, to strengthen them, stop hair loss and gradually restore density.
- If the follicles in the area can no longer be recovered: we recommend an FUE hair transplant, reimplanting healthy follicles from the donor area for a natural, permanent result.

Which is the best hair transplant technique?
It is usually performed under local anesthesia; when your case requires it, it can be done under sedation. Today there are two main techniques: follicular unit extraction (FUE) and follicular unit transplantation (FUT or FUSS), which removes a strip of scalp.

Marking
Dr. Alfonso draws the design with you according to your proportions, the natural angle of your hair and your donor area. Nothing is implanted until you approve the design.
Anesthesia
Local anesthesia in the donor area. You are awake and comfortable throughout the procedure.
Extraction
Follicles are extracted strategically with punches under 1 mm, so the donor area stays even with no thinned-out patches.
Channel opening
The angle, depth and direction of each channel determine how the hair will grow and how natural the hairline will look.
Implantation

Short hair
The traditional approach: the donor area is partially shaved to make extraction easier. It is the most common option for men and gives greater visibility of the donor area during the procedure.
Long hair, without shaving the donor area
The follicles are extracted selectively from among the existing hair, leaving the rest intact. You keep your appearance from day one: ideal for women and for those who do not want it to be noticeable. We use it mainly for eyebrows and feminizing the hairline. See no-shave transplant →

Hair transplant: before and after surgery
What care should I take before a hair transplant?
In the days before, avoid alcohol and anti-inflammatory drugs, do not smoke for at least 15 days beforehand (it affects healing and circulation) and arrive with clean hair. Dr. Alfonso gives you a detailed preparation protocol at your evaluation.
Can I exercise after the transplant?
Avoid intense exercise during the first month. From day 15 you can resume light activity without heavy sweating, and more intense sports are gradually resumed from the following month, as directed by Dr. Alfonso.
When can I wear a cap or helmet after the transplant?
From day 15 you can wear caps, helmets and hats. During the first few days it is important not to put pressure on the implanted area.
Can I go out in the sun after the transplant?
Avoid direct sun on the transplanted area for the first 3 months: it can affect healing and scalp pigmentation. If you have any questions, ask Dr. Alfonso.
How should I sleep after a hair transplant?
For the first 5 nights it is recommended to sleep semi-upright, to reduce swelling and avoid pressing on the implanted area. Dr. Alfonso tells you the position and care for your case.
How should I wash my hair after the transplant?
Following Dr. Alfonso's instructions. You can see how it is done in this video; if you need it, the wash can also be done at the clinic.
When can I resume sexual activity?
It is recommended to wait 5 to 7 days: physical exertion and increased blood pressure can affect the implanted area in the first stage of healing.
When can I go back to work in mining?
Because of exposure to dust, intense sun, the helmet and physical exertion, a minimum rest of 3 to 4 weeks is recommended. A helmet is safe from day 15, but for highly demanding jobs Dr. Alfonso evaluates the return to work case by case.
Can hair be transplanted from other parts of the body?
Yes, with the BHT (Body Hair Transplant) technique, which uses follicles from the beard, chest or other areas as a supplementary donor source. It is not standard practice, because the results are less natural and less effective than with scalp hair. Dr. Alfonso considers it when the donor area is insufficient and has performed it with beard and chest hair.
Can I have surgery if I have high blood pressure?
Hypertension is not an absolute contraindication, but it must be controlled and stable with treatment. Your blood pressure is measured on the day of surgery and, if it is not within range, the procedure is rescheduled. During surgery your vital signs are monitored constantly. Mention it at your evaluation.
Can I have a hair transplant if I am diabetic?
Yes, if the diabetes is controlled and your blood sugar is stable. Uncontrolled diabetes increases the risk of infection, delays healing and can affect follicle survival. Specific tests are ordered, such as glycated hemoglobin, which you can have done at the clinic.
Is there a maximum age for a hair transplant?
No. What matters is your general health and the quality of your donor area; patients aged 60 or 70 can have surgery if they are in good condition. In young people it is best to wait until the hair loss stabilizes, usually around age 25; in the meantime, a Hair Protocol can slow down hair loss.
