Hair transplant for patients from Santiago
Many of our patients live in Santiago and travel to Viña del Mar for their FUE hair transplant (hair implant) with Dr. Evelyn Alfonso. It is about 1 h 30 via Route 68, and the procedure is outpatient: you arrive in the morning and go back home without being hospitalized.

What the process looks like if you live in Santiago
We organize everything so you travel as little as possible, with everything sorted out.
Online evaluation
You send us photos of your scalp and we talk over a video call. Dr. Alfonso reviews your degree of hair loss and your donor area.
Plan and date
You receive your plan with the estimated number of follicular units and we choose the date of the procedure. Pre-procedure tests are done at the clinic, coordinated with your trip.
Implant day
You travel to Viña del Mar. Before starting, the doctor confirms the design with you in person. The procedure takes between 4 and 8 hours.
Check-ups
Follow-up with photos and video calls, plus in-person check-ups when the doctor indicates, coordinated with your trips.

How to get here from Santiago
By car or bus
- Route 68 to Viña del Mar: approx. 1 h 30, depending on traffic.
- Frequent buses from the Alameda and Pajaritos terminals to the Viña del Mar terminal.
- The clinic is at 10 Norte 875, Viña del Mar, a few minutes from the bus terminal.
- On the day of the procedure you must not drive back: come with someone or by bus.
Implant day
- You arrive in the morning after a light breakfast, wearing clothes with buttons or a zipper (nothing you pull over your head).
- The procedure is done under local anesthesia: you are awake and relaxed.
- When it is over you receive your written care instructions.
- If the doctor recommends it in your case, you can stay in Viña that night and go back the next day.
- If you prefer to stay in Viña del Mar that night, we have agreements with hotels near the clinic: ask us on WhatsApp and we will help you book.
Is it worth traveling from Santiago for a hair transplant?
In a hair transplant, what matters most for the result is who operates on you. At Clínica Lumos you are evaluated and operated on personally by Dr. Evelyn Alfonso, a member of FUE Europe, in an operating room authorized by the SEREMI de Salud (regional health authority). We use the FUE technique, including without shaving, and diagnosis with AI-assisted trichoscopy.
For most patients from Santiago, it is two or three trips in total. In return, you deal directly with the doctor from the first consultation to the final result.

Can I do the first evaluation without traveling?
Yes. The first evaluation can be online: you send us photos and we talk over a video call. With that, Dr. Alfonso advises you on whether you are a candidate and which treatment suits you.
How many times do I have to travel to Viña del Mar?
Usually, on the day of the procedure and for the in-person check-ups the doctor indicates. Much of the follow-up can be done with photos and video calls.
Can I go back to Santiago on the same day as the hair transplant?
The procedure is outpatient, but you must not drive. You can go back with someone or by bus. If in your case it is better to stay in Viña that night, the doctor will tell you during the evaluation.
When can I go back to work?
It depends on the type of work and the technique. Many patients with office jobs go back within a few days; if you need discretion, the no-shave transplant helps. We give you a specific recommendation during the evaluation.
